Marie Ricci Ceiling Medallions a Celebrity Favorite

(TAMPA, FL)  Ceiling medallions and wall letters are fast becoming the hot decorating item for celebrity moms and dads to have in their baby's nursery, according to Marie Ricci, a Tampa artisan, whose decorative plaques now grace the homes of numerous "star" babies.

"Since celebrities are trend-setters as well as trend-spotters, it's really exciting when they choose to decorate with a ceiling medallion, wall letter or other plaque from my collection" Ricci said. 

Ricci's most recent celebrity baby room is Nancy O'Dell's nursery. O'Dell of Access Hollywood fame, chose a distressed ivory Letter Plaque and Bunny Accent Plaques for her nursery decor.  Other celebrity moms, like Angela Bassett, have chosen Marie Ricci's clock or ceiling medallions for their nurseries - or their own rooms.    

Canadian trendsetters have jumped on the bandwagon as well.  Justin and Colin of HGTV's new Home Heist are using ceiling medallions from Marie Ricci in a home makeover to be aired this year.

"Ceiling medallions were once associated with more formal interior design in wealthy homes, but our designs and fun colors and finishes make them suitable for cottages, apartments, and really any room in the house, " says Ricci. 

Her newest designs include seashells and roosters and she has added a larger diameter ceiling medallion for some of the more "grownup" designs. 

Marie Ricci Collection's first product, the now-classic wall letter plaque, was a huge hit, especially after she was able to offer it in a lighter weight resin.  The artisan was soon being asked for additional decorative plaques.  Since then, she has added more accent plaques, wall clocks, mirrors and more recently ceiling and chandelier medallions and children's peg racks.  More products and designs are in the works from this talented artist.

Ricci carves each design and from that creates a mold for use with plaster or resin, and every piece is hand-painted in one of eighteen designer colors.

              Marie Ricci Builds On Ceiling Medallions Success
 
(TAMPA)  Marie Ricci Collection has added six new designs to its ceiling medallion line which debuted with four designs in 2004 and now boasts more than twenty four.

"It's been enormously gratifying to have customers return asking for additional designs for other rooms in their homes," said Ricci.  As with all her products, Ricci designs, then carves the original medallion which is used to create a mold for the hand poured lightweight resin ceiling medallions.

Early this year, the company decided to sell at retail only, after almost 6 years of concentrating on the wholesale market.

"Over the years, I've found that dealing directly with the customer inspires me.  Plus I have more flexibility relative to design changes or color changes than is the case when wholesaling," said Ricci.

Ricci, who hand paints and finishes each item, notes that her new nautical theme ceiling medallions resulted from a customer comment.  She believes that the customer interaction possible when selling directly to customers lets her stay ahead of consumer trends.

Ricci, whose medallions and plaques have been featured in magazines, designer show houses and grace the homes of celebrities. 

Designs for children's rooms dominate the ceiling medallions and wall clocks series, but the Marie Ricci Collection has added new designs, such as Vines and Hawaiian, that are ageless in their appeal.

Marie Ricci Collection's first product was the hugely popular letter plaque, which was quickly joined by coordinating accent plaques, clocks, then mirrors and most recently ceiling and chandelier medallions.
